The four-year PhD program consists of three years of dissertation work and one year of course work. Each PhD candidate is assigned two supervisors. PhD programme outline. The PhD Programme in Economics comprises 240 ECTS, of which coursework constitutes 105 ECTS and thesis work 135 ECTS. The first year (60 ECTS) comprises the mandatory courses for PhD studies: Mathematical Methods (5+7.5 ECTS), Microeconomics (5+5+5 ECTS), Macroeconomics (7.5+7.5 ECTS) and Basic eligibility for admission to the PhD programme, the applicant is required to have a degree at advanced level, fulfilled course requirements for at least 240 credit points, of which at least 60 credit points at advanced level, or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden or abroad. The PhD Programme The Department of Peace and Conflict Research offers a PhD programme that lasts for 4 years, including compulsory course work corresponding to about 1 year of fulltime studies. PhD candidates are often involved in teaching or administration up to 20% of their time, so it may take up to 5 years to complete the PhD programme. There are two main components of the program: course work (60 credits) and work in connection with the PhD dissertation, including seminars, theoretical work, data collection of different kinds, problem analysis, thesis authorship and supervision by highly qualified tutors (180 credits). The PhD studies in both Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology at Uppsala University is part of the activities supported by the Faculty of Arts.
It comprises one component of course modules (90 academic credits) and one component made up of the dissertation (academic credits), totaling 240 academic credits.
